Whomp whomp

Epic fail on the blogging y'all. I know I promised I would get better with it all and I totally failed. It's crazy how after years of teaching small things like having 26-27 kids can make me feel like a first year teacher. It's kinda sad, but definitely a learning experience. This is my first year since leaving teaching special education that I have been the instructional facilitation teacher. I must say I'm getting my work in.

 Aside from getting use to a new class set up, I've also been obsessed with this little guy...
It's hard to ignore him when he wakes up smiling and stares at you smiling all day. Melts my heart y'all....melts my heart. He's almost 4 months old and I'm completely still trying to remember when babies do things and what to expect next. I'm a hot mess over here...hot mess. But a very happy and blessed hot mess.

With my lack of blogging, I have watched my little bug turn into a 5 year old. I mean I've always have known it was coming, but now....excuse me as I hold back tears....she's 5.
And according to her attitude going on 25. My sweet ladybug turned 5 in what feels like only a yesterday. As a Kindergarten teacher it baffles me that my sweet babygirl will be there next year....it down right scares me to be honest. But putting my worries aside- there is my favorite part to my kids turning a year older- the ever so exciting party!!!!
Here's a peek at the fun:

Isn't it to die for? LOL....you see what I did there? It was a shark party! Sorry cheesy I know...I'm exhausted and my humor is way off. Hate to cut it short, but it's time for this girl to get her run on now that the kiddos are asleep- gotta get this jiggle to go away. :)

Teacher Week: I'm behind a day...whomp whomp

Teacher Week is nice...I'm doing it TWICE! Okay, Okay....I was at school in-service for Team Building (Yay!!! I'm shouting with my hands up over here y'all! That's how exciting it was :/) I totally missed showing off my "Classroom Digs" and today is now teach!!! "Organizing for instruction" So today I'm focusing on Classroom Digs since I'm still organizing myself and haven't taken pictures of my oh so organized self. :) (Total sarcasm)
Blog Hoppin is hosting another Teacher Week- head over and visit to link up.

{Classroom Digs}
I must warn you....this is a work in progress....aka it's a hot mess in my new room. I just moved rooms from down the hallway so half of my stuff is in one room and somebody's stuff is in my new room. Plus to a new room....I'm in the same hall as all of Kindergarten now. Downside....I no longer have a suite mate. So when this teacher has to go to the restroom...I'm outta luck.

Here are pics of Day 1: You might see a cute little curly hair girl in them- she thought it was modeling time. :)
This is the front of my room. My desk area on the left pic and my entrance and calendar area/wordwork area with Ladybug in the right pic. :)

This is the back of my room. On the left pic is my cubbies and on the right is my small group reading area, writing center, and computer center in the back by the bulletin board.
Here are pics of Day 2:
 This is the back of my room and cubbies and my small group area/writing table/computer area in the back by the bulletin board. I probably won't use my whiteboard as much (only to display stuff for writing center and reading)

Here is my desk area on the top left pic, my calendar area and smartboard and in the last pic on the left bottom you'll notice the super cool palm tree my former suite mate and saving grace-Katie gave me. It's awesome. I have to find a way to put it in my library. :)

I'll be honest....my room is a hot mess, but I also took a newborn (7 weeks) and a 4 year old up there since Coach is already doing 2-a-days. :) It's pretty impressive considering....moving and the two youngins. :)
There you have it friends. Come back tomorrow for my organization portion that is a day late....woot! woot! and there definitely will be updated pics of my room by Friday!!! Can't wait to show you the finished product.

Teacher Week: Meet the Teacher

Hey Bloggy friends,

I've missed you so much! I went missing for a while because well AT&T took FOREVER to fix our service. :( Let's just say that for a teacher who does everything on the internet,  a Coach who has to watch film from games that is on the internet, and a 4 year old who turned into a Shark Week geek- it was not a good week for us. So I'm back!!! And my service could not have been fixed at a better time. It's Teacher Week 2013!!! Blog Hoppin is hosting another Teacher Week- head over and visit to link up. I have to be honest and say that I love reading all about you amazing teachers.

If you're new to my blog then this is the perfect time to get to know me. Hopefully, my 10 random things don't scare you away because let's be honest I'm a little silly over here.

1. I'm obsessed with Ladybugs. They have a very special meaning to me. Before my grandmother passed away from breast cancer, she told me that ladybugs bring you luck. I had hoped that they would bring her luck to get better and overcome cancer. She told me that even if it doesn't work, whenever I see a ladybug to remember that it will be her saying "hi and that she loves me". To this day, I remember that and always remember to say hi back. My room even has ladybugs in it to make me smile. :)

2. I almost didn't end up teaching. I knew growing up I wanted to be a teacher and follow in my Momma's footsteps as an educator. I went to college for my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in EC-4. I made it all the way up to my final semester of student teaching and began questioning my choice to teach. As the daughter of an educator, I saw a lot of the happenings that most did not. It made me question if this was really what I wanted to do. I chose not to go right into teaching and pursue my passion for graphic design, paper and invitations. I opened a custom invitation business and worked in the wedding coordination industry. I loved doing it, but my it just didn't feel right. I tried working as a teacher's assistant to see if maybe, just maybe teaching was my calling. It wasn't even a week in when I walked into the most amazing classroom ever. Laura Schwarz welcomed me into her kinder classroom by saying "welcome to tacky- this classroom is the definition of tacky!" She was referring to the fact that her room was decorated from bottom to top, walls covered in colorful posters, words and just overall greatness. I feel back in love and I knew in that moment standing by one of the best teachers I've taught with- that this is where I needed to be.

3. You still there? That last one was longer than I expected! I married my college sweetheart. That's right. I'm married to the amazing man, Mike, who I met in college at a trash pick-up. Best thing I picked up at that trash pick-up. :) Sorry cheesy I know. He actually was in a fraternity that a lot of my guy friends were in and I had met him once before, but for some reason paid little attention to him and he did the same to me. But there was no denying on that night after the pick-up at a party at his place that he was definitely a cutie. :) And so it began...11 years later we are happily married with two little Mikey look-alikes for kids.

4. I teach with one of my best friends from college. That's right I teach with one of my sorority sisters and best friends from college. Crazy how we ended up together, but I wouldn't have it any other way. She's even my teammate and just down the hall from me. :) It's like we never were separated. Gotta love my Montemayor!
5. My baby sister is my all time best friend. Best thing besides my babies that I was ever blessed with. (Of course the hubs too, but you know...she's pretty darn special) My poor mom- we have put here through endless jokes, craziness and oh just right out being total dorks. I could not imagine going through life with anyone else. She's actually in California living her dream of working in the film industry and opened her new business. :) So proud!!!

6. This isn't my only blog ya'll!  The hubs started coaching this year (in June actually) and I needed something to document vent and release my coach wifey experience. I'm actually super excited to be the wife of a coach. It will all make sense after you read #7. So I thought why not....let's blog about our life as the family of a high school coach....I mean what could be more interesting than a teacher married to a coach with a newborn and a crazy but cute 4 year old (I'm sure there are lots of things, but yea..) Check it out by clicking on the button down below. :)

7. I'm obsessed with sports. Mainly football y'all.  Did you know there are 19 days until LONGHORN football? Yea that's right I have a countdown. There are 18 days until the official kick-off of the Hubs' high school team. I'm obsessed y'all and I'll admit it. I grew up with a dad that was a coach and I spent my days on a football field surrounded by crazy boys who loved the game. Thus....tomboy and football obsessed Marisa. I can tell you what play is what...why they called that play and predict what they should do next...it's sad, but true. Hubs being a coach= perfect job to have when your wife loves football. I spend my weekends in UT and Patriots gear. :) It's even rubbed off on Ladybug. (My daughter)

8. Speaking of sports...if I wasn't a teacher I would be.... a Sportscenter anchor. OMG...I can not tell you how nerdy I would be as a sportscenter anchor. Could you imagine spending you days on the sidelines interviewing some of the best athletes in the business and some of the crazies of the sport? I could and it would be epic!!!! I mean come on visiting Boston and attending a Red Sox game and Pats game in the same week or weekend is on my bucket list.

9. I'm entering my 6th year teaching. I thought my sixth year was last year, but I obviously am old and was wrong. How do I forget...I have no idea. :) I will be teaching Kindergarten for my 2nd year. This is actually the first time that I have been in a grade-level for 2 years in a row. It's so nice knowing what you are doing and not having anxiety because of a different curriculum. I love it and Kinder is where my heart is!

10. Last but most importantly, I'm the momma to these two babes!  Meet Cammy (aka Ladybug-4) and Grayson (Baby Gray-7 weeks old) They definitely by far are the best thing I've ever done or will do!
I can't wait for y'all to visit tomorrow for the next topic! Stop by Blog Hoppin to join in the fun! See you tomorrow! I have pics to show you of my class. :)

Five for Friday

Happy Friday y'all!! One more Friday means Summer is closer to an end. :( So to make me smile I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday. {If you read my other blog I apologize if it's similar to our Five on Friday :) }

Alot has happened this week that would explain why...well...I am just getting back to blogging right now. :)

{one}

WHOMP! WHOMP!! Let's shout it together....BOO to getting stopped!!! Let's be honest while I know that it is their job to protect us and stop those of us who are speeding [Looks around b/c I sure wasn't] It always stinks to get stopped especially when you have a crying 5 week old and a annoyed 4 year old who apparently forgot that they used to cry as well. Thankfully for me Officer Rodriguez (who wasn't bad looking might I add) was super sweet and gave me a warning. I was going 5 miles over the speed limit and I think the poor guy felt bad for me with Gray in the back crying. That guy gets a high five for being super nice and proving to this girl that our PD does have nice guys.

{two}

The countdown is on y'all....for dare I say it...the end of Summer. :( So we have been spending our last few weeks together trying to have as much fun as possible. We've been to the park almost everyday and as you can see it wore some people out. Yay for Momma! It doesn't hurt that we have an Orange Leaf down the road because Ladybug loves her fro-yo. Let's be honest...so does this girl. It's a known fact that Orange Leaf is responsible for this girl rediscovering her love for Fruity Pebbles {which caused me to go buy some at HEB}

{three}

Baby Gray has officially turned 6 weeks. I'm in love with this little boy and certain that he will always love his Momma because well....let's be honest a Mom is every little boy's first love. I'll be his until he's 40! :) This amazing little boy does so many amazing things that I can't help but brag about him.
- 9 lbs, 7 oz (He started at 7 lbs, 3 oz)
-rolls over during Tummy Time
-say "Good morning Handsome!" and he smiles his heart away
-such a charmer (all the ladies love him)
-so far we have light brown eyes (we will see if it stays)

{four}

HOOK 'EM!!! That's right y'all there are 30...now 29 days until kickoff for UT football and this girl couldn't be more excited. I literally do not know what I do without football after basketball ends. I know that I gag each time that I just have to hear about baseball on Sportscenter. {sorry to my baseball coach loving families and wives} I can't wait for my College Gameday with Herbie and the boys or to rock my burnt orange.

{five}
the top of the dress
how it looks altogether

Coach comes home from Coaching School in DFW and tells me "Bubs, you have to find something to wear to the Coaches' dinner on Saturday. It's a family thing where all the families will meet." WHAT!?!? Already?
When we started this journey I thought this (and this is me being honest so please don't judge) I want to make a good first impression. I don't want to look like a hot mess when I meet these people even if I am however many weeks post partum. I know...I know- it sounds so superficial, but I'm being honest.
I thought this girl at least had until the week before the first scrimmage to meet the families. Now usually I'm not worried, but this girl is 6 weeks post baby and not anywhere near where she was before she got the big ol' preggo.

So this dress {they said come casual} up here is what I was thinking of wearing minus the jacket and boots because after all IT'S TEXAS Y'ALL AND IT'S HOT! and I'd be a damn fool to wear a jacket in this heat. Not sure how if it's okay to wear. Aside from being worried about what to wear I'm worried about our little quirky family....lol Ladybug cracks jokes about "tooting" {thanks for that hubs} and wants to be everyones friend which doesn't always go well with the older kids. The hubs is quiet and not as social as his teacher wife and of course this girl is somewhat too honest and sarcastic which doesn't always go over that well. I'm also pretty damn funny with my sarcasm, but that's just my opinion. :)

Here's hoping! Wish us luck y'all....we're gonna need it. If you don't hear back from me...it means I'm hiding in shame because our crazy came out in public....lol I promise we are not that crazy. :) ....maybe

Happy Weekend!! Holla!

Currently...August- already?

Hey y'all!

Can you believe it? I'll whisper it in case you hadn't heard....it's already August and Summer is already over. :( It feel like I just got out of school and was ready for the excitement of this Summer.

 It's true....that's right I have two full weeks left before I cry and head to school...I kid...I kid. Don't judge if there are tears- I mean leaving my sweet new babyboy might actually be harder than I'm preparing for.

All that being said....it's time for one of my favorite link ups with Farley from Oh Boy Fourth Grade!  You seriously need to go check out all of the other Currently post. :)

B2S 2013 Must haves:

1. I love cute bags, but to be honest most of them don't hold up like I need them to or they are just too cute to use because you know how things spill, pens leak, and well they just get messed up. I'm torn on which bag to get or use. I have a super cute Vera Bradley bag, but it seems like it's time to put it to rest. :( RIP cute black Vera Bradley bag. (tear)

2. I'm a total nerd...I'll admit and love writing. I'm obsessed with handwriting and switching up my handwriting all the time. It's an obsession.....the first step is to admit you have a problem. The best way to switch up my handwriting is to have tons of cute colored pens. I love them in felt tip and regular tip and whatever tip they can come in.

3. Oh let me tell you about smelly markers. Since the time I was in 1st grade I have been obsessed with smelly markers. But Mrs. Miller (yes I remember her name- she even came to my wedding y'all and I see her now) clearly stated that the "smelly markers" are only teacher markers. It didn't matter how much we begged only she could use them. So from that day- I pledge that when I started teaching, I would have my own set of smelly markers. And you bet your sweet biscuits I have my smelly markers. Every year, I make sure to purchase them as soon as possible. :)

Sunday Smorgasbord

Happy Sunday y'all. Sunday is now even better because thanks to Michelle at Fabulous at First I can be totally random and just talk about whatever I want. :) Summer is coming to an end and well my mind is already in "teacher mode" so I have to do something fun to let you guys see what I've been up to besides sneaking off at night to Walmart. :) (I'll talk about this in a bit)

{one}

YAY BABY GRAY!!!  (all of 5 weeks old) How can I not be loving on this sweetness. I'm way obsessed (lame I know) with the finished pics that my friend Kim from Modern Bebe Designs and Photography did for us. This is Coach's (hubs) surprise for his desk. :) He has no idea yet, but it's being blown up into a bigger size for his at home office. :) swoon....I'm in love. (Sorry facebook...I've blasted you with pics of my sweet babies all week long)

{two}

WHAT'S THAT SMELL? [If you're Ladybug and smell bar-b-que you yell out "Oh someone is making saw-sage!"  yes with the "w" and all :) ]So I'll admit it- I just got my first official bar-b-que pit. Yes....I live in Texas and just got one. (Thanks to my father in law being totally cute and getting us one because I was talking about it)
Now I will tell you that I grew up in a house with one of the best bar-b-quers EVA! Mariana...my momma. <Gasp...I know not my dad, but my momma is the best> So it's only natural that I be amazing as well....well not yet, but I'm working on it. I'm all about a bar-b-que right now so come on over and I'll serve you up some good treats. :)

{three}
FOOTBALL TIME!!! Thank you Hey-sus it's training camp time and my TV is filled with the sounds of Sportscenter and talk of camp and football. The less I hear about baseball and A-roid the better. This girl is in football heaven and can not wait till season opener. Yes...I have a countdown for each team.

-34 days until UT Football
-40 days until Pats football
-33 days until my hubs HS team has their first official game.

My days will be filled with Fridays in purple (Coach's team), Saturdays in burnt orange (Hook 'em) and Sundays in Red/Navy (P...A...T....S...PATS! PATS! PATS!)

{four}
DEFINITELY MAYBE
I love this movie and if I could watch it over and over I would...if I could get Ladybug to zip it. :) I mean that with love...this is Momma's late night, can't go to sleep movie.

{five}
{Please excuse the lack of make-up and look- I was rocking on 4 hours of sleep....thanks for that Baby Gray and 6 week growth spurt :) }Oh Walmart....you and I have been best friends for the past two nights. I've been in teacher mode for the past week and all I can think about is what I need to buy and all of the amazing deals I want to find. Y'all- I am obsessed right now with finding cute little plastic chairs on sale...unfortunately for me, Walmart here have not put them on sale. :( Walmart is hitting my bank account hard this week. Poor Hubs, but it allows this momma of two a chance to get out and take a break while getting her teacher on. :) Holla!

Head on over to Fabulous in First and see what other teachers are talking about on Sunday! :)

What I'm loving Wednesday (Linky)

Happy Hump Day y'all! :) I thought I would do something fun and link up again with another wonderful teacher Jessica with Covered in Glitter and Glue. She's making Wednesdays fun with
Here goes nothing:

1.I was that little girl begging her grandma to give her coffee....just to try it. :) Well guess who else caught on and begs here Nanas for some? You got it Ladybug herself.  I love that for some crazy reason (Call me a bad mom) my ladybug is a fan of coffee. Unfortunately for momma, she likes Starbucks coffee only. :) Her words not mine, but I'm not sure where she has tried more than Starbucks she sneaks from Nanas. Sadly, this girl right here is not a coffee drinker so we will see if Ladybug continues to be as well.

2. I know I'm way late on this commercial, but I love it. Just having a 1 month old (Wow- can't believe he's a month already) and having a hubs who loves sports this commercial hits home. My hubs swears that since Cammy has been born she's been like a good luck charm for Spain Soccer. :) If only Grayson could be the lucky charm for our Pats winning....so far not so much. (One former player in jail and the rest have left- except for my Brady....oh and the great TEBOW!)

3. Don't judge y'all, but this Suave dry shampoo is the best thing in the world...EVA! Don't get me wrong I wash my hair all the time, but as a now mother of 2 there are days where I'm lucky if I get to shower by noon! Shameful, but true! So this dry shampoo has come in handy on days where I need to run out and grab something real quick. I swear you would have no idea I had second day hair with how it works. Definitely something you need to try for those long nights you stay up late on a school night....you know...grading papers! :)

Link up and let us know what you  are loving on Wednesday!
